Three chords in my hand

about

The working title of this song was 'this illusion' and was about the pitfalls of self confidence encountered while being a musician/song writer. A lot of us spend our time either too confident or not confident enough. It's sometimes about time management... I tweaked a little of the lyrics since then but it is essentially about the same themes. Recorded in the top room of my house under a fortress of blankets/mattresses/sticks using one Samson Meteor.

lyrics

I'll die with these
three chords in my hand
I've tried many times
but i don't understand

pushing yourself
out on the ledge
then pulling yourself
back from the edge

you sleep with your eyes wide shut
as I go to sleep and dream of a lie
you go to sleep with your eyes wide shut
and I'm dreaming of the time that I
fall back to you

my chords are all broken
twisted in doubt
i whispered my plans
when i meant to shout

we've been left behind
in races we've learned
a part of a plan
for the bridges we burned

you sleep with your eyes wide shut
as I go to sleep and dream of a lie
you go to sleep with your eyes wide shut
and I'm dreaming of the time that I
fall back to you

my chords are all broken
twisted in doubt
I made up my plans
and then began to shout

Trace your echo
back to its call
there's no one there
you stumble and fall
